GREER, S.C., Dec. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Spire Natural Gas Fueling Solutions (Spire) is providing a new and improved fueling option for truck drivers. With the debut of its first fueling station in South Carolina, Spire is helping the Upstate run on cleaner and affordable compressed natural gas (CNG). Today local officials from Greer joined Spire executives to celebrate the fueling station's official grand opening.

"We are excited that the trucking community in Greenville has started the shift to compressed natural gas," said Peter Stansky, president and chief operating officer for Spire. "We designed this station with the heavy-duty truck driver in mind, from easy access to the station and a wide turning radius to fast fueling pumps that get drivers back on the road quickly and safely."

The station is located at 85 Freeman Farm Road, a site that is ideal for drivers because it is right off Interstate 85 and next to a full-service convenience store featuring food, drinks and restrooms.

"We are excited for Spire to join the Greer community," said Mark Owens, president of the Greer Chamber of Commerce. "Greer is a trailblazer in regard to compressed natural gas, and we are proud that Spire will allow our businesses and residents to have another choice when it comes to fuel. This is another new technology to utilize which makes Greer a great place to be in business."

The Spire CNG station uses top-of-the-line equipment including natural gas gathering compressor from leading manufacturers to provide a reliable, efficient and safe fueling experience. Customers are able to fill their vehicles quickly and safely thanks to the high quality-control technology and compression equipment. Additionally, the station is monitored around the clock and is well lit for customers who fuel at night. Spire designed the station for large fleet vehicles like class-8 trucks but can also fuel passenger vehicles like a Honda Civic Natural Gas.
